KUALA LUMPUR:The government is prepared to face the possibility of floods during the 15th General Election (GE15), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Prime Minister said a total of 6,010 temporary relocation centres (PPS) have been identified in the event of floods.

"From the total PPS, 2,010 centres also double as voting centres.
"In case of floods, we will make the necessary arrangements for either centre not to be disrupted.
"For example, for a PPS located at a school, we might allocate different buildings for flood relief in case of an overlap.

"District officers have been entrusted with the task of finding alternative locations for PPS as well as in case of an overlap," he told a press conference after attending a briefing by the police on preparations for the General Election and possible floods, at Bukit Aman on Tuesday (Oct 25).
Other locations such as multi-purpose halls have been identified for possible relocation for the PPS, he said.
"We don't want to disrupt preparations for the floods or elections thus we are prepared.

"However, if floods do occur, It will not happen at all once nationwide. Be it as it may, we have made necessary preparations," he said.
Ismail Sabri said the police along with other relevant agencies such as the Fire and Rescue Department, and the Armed Forces have made ample preparations to face possibility of floods.

"A sufficient number of personnel will be deployed including 21,018 police officers and personnel, 18,511 Armed Forces personnel and 14,829 Bomba personnel.
"A total of 1,816 boats, 1,810 four-wheel drive, 1,596 lorries and 19 air assets will be used in the possiblity of floods," he said.
